In everyday life, good communication is very important. In the military, good communication is absolutely vital. In a pressing situation, being clearly understood can mean the difference between success and failure. For example, when monitoring a crackling radio transmission, you can't think twice about whether that was "C" Company or "G" Company you heard. Therefore, the Army National Guard relies on the phonetic alphabet to clarify communications. There are several versions of the phonetic alphabet. Here is the approved Army version.
